The Iron Curtain Club was in a Georgian House in the High Street, St. Mary's Cray, Kent and opened in November? 1965.
It had lots of rooms on different levels and was an iconic Mod venue specializing in R&B, Soul and Ska.
It had a two sister clubs, The Austral Club at 144 Longlands Road, Sidcup, Kent and The Ska Bar in Spray Street.
All three clubs were run by Jim Carroll (b. James Carroll) and his brother John Carroll.
Geno Washington and The Ram Jam Band played here.
It was a great venue, so different from anything else around and for a time very popular but after a lot of attention from the authorities The Iron Curtain Club closed in 1967.
