Dorian Gray (b. Anthony Ellington, Monday, June 15, 1942, Gravesend, Kent, England) was a singer who released a number of singles from 1967 to 1970.
Gray had been educated at St. George's School, Gravesend.
Gray under his real name of Ellington had been lead singer in Gravesend band The Casuals, making his first appearance with them in 1960.
He was given six months off from his work at Kent Art Printers in Rochester, Kent by his boss, but returned back to work. His stage name - after the Oscar Wilde character who never grew old - was selected by his record producer who wanted something "more sexy" to reflect the singer's ever-youthful good looks.
In 1968 he had just brought a house and his wife had had a boy in February 1968. He had responsibilities and mortgage, so he had to give up his singing career.
In 1974 Gray who wanted to return to music formed Unit Five who included Reg Keam on drums (b. Reginald Keam).
