Steve and the Corvettes were one of the the finest 'local' bands. I remember lead guitarist Mac (later Mac's Music Store) I visited to see at 219 High St., Herne Bay. Earlier, Mac ran a large music shop in Folkestone where I'd go lunchtimes as near the newspaper offices where I ran the art studio. We'd talk about places the Corvettes played: The Leas Pavilion and Aylesham - sharing the gig with my band The Fyrebirds. Corvettes' brilliant drummer was Mac's brother, played on a UK hit single if recall correctly. Mac played sunburst Jazzmaster through a big Fender amp. Think Steve attended Folkestone Art school.
